Museum of NYC tattoo history
The Daredevil Tattoo Museum collection includes artifacts from co-owner Brad Fink's collection of antique tattoo memorabilia that he has amassed over the last 30+ years of tattooing. The collection also includes artifacts donated and acquired thanks to the generous support of our donors. Tattoo flash, machines, and ephemera from the early roots of modern tattooing with original artwork by Samuel O'Reilly, Bert Grimm, August "Cap" Coleman, George Burchett, Sailor Jerry and many more are all on display. The shop is located on the border of the historic Lower East Side and Chinatown just a few blocks east of the Bowery and Chatham Square where O'Reilly, Charlie Wagner, Millie Hull and other legendary tattoo artists plied their trade. The museum is part of the tattoo shop and is viewable during regular business hours. There is no admission fee.
We have formed a non profit organization dedicated to increasing public knowledge and appreciation of the history of tattooing. NYC Tattoo History Inc is a registered 501(c)(3) EIN # 81-3387060
All artifacts, funds and proceeds donated to NYC Tattoo History may qualify as charitable deductions for federal income tax purposes and will be used directly in our mission to preserve and celebrate New York's important tattoo history. We are very grateful to everyone who has supported us and we hope to serve as a global resource to everyone who shares our passion for tattooing's history.
Co-owner Michelle Myles is a licensed New York City tour guide and regularly host tattoo history walking tours of the Bowery which can be booked online through Airbnb experiences. The tours are usually on Fridays and we meet at the shop at 11am and the tattoo history walking tour is about two hours. Check the Airbnb link to confirm time and availability.
A very big thank you to those who have supported us through their donations of artwork or funds to the collection.
